Australian Open Day 10Order of Play : http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/scores/schedule/index.html
Sharapova-Chak-whatever
Clijsters-Hingis
Haas-Davydenko are on during the day
then also Nadal-Gonzo
only two matches interest me. Sharapova-Anna, Anna has been hot so far this year. I think she will give Sharapova some trouble. I also bet on Anna, and if she wins I rack in 300 vCash on WTAWorld.
I don't see Clijsters-Hingis being that close. It might be nice for shotmaking, but I don't see a lot of tension being there.
Nadal-Gonzo should be good as well.

Come on Chakvetadze!
I remember these two playing at the F.O. 2005, and Sharapova was just so dominant in that match. Chakvetadze looked like she belonged on the Futures circuit or something. Now, she has won 19 of her last 20 matches (only losses to Davenport and Stosur since the US Open). She has won 3 titles, including a tier 1, and will probably be zooming into the top 10 after this run. Anna leads 5-4.

Sharapova def. Chakvetadze 7-6, 7-5.
That was a HORRIBLE match to say the least. Long day at the office for the server, and how appropriate, it ended with a break.
Yuri got another coaching violation.

Surprise, surprise...
Well, anyways, it's surprising that Sharapova couldn't dominate with the serve... she better step it up a notch in the semifinals, for she won't get away with it against (probably) Clijsters....

Surprise... Hingis wins the first set 6-3.

Kim is playing like serious sh*t right now. 26 unforced errors? Already?

That's actually really bad. Hingis has only made 7....

31 UFEs now.

She must be having either an awful day or a really nervous one... she usually doesn't make this many unforced errors in three matches!

It's going to a third set... Clijsters wins the second 6-4.

She still doesn't seem quite inspired yet. She would have closed it out at 6-2 if she was more focused.

What's taking so long with this match point?

Davydenko and Haas now on Rod Laver....

That Clijsters match was so depressing for Martina, she had such good chances to take Clijsters on a terrible day and make a semi!
I'm so mad at her for choking it away.
Ah well.
Goodnight.

Nadal just got taken apart by Gonzo
What on earth?

maybe Nadal was a little off? Gonzo was looking good against Blake...
Haas beat Davydenko 7-5 in the fifth.

I am so glad Clijsters won! I am hoping that she will take Sharapova down, as Sharapova is playing awful. I am so wanting Kim to take at least one slam this year
Right now i hate ESPN for the tape delay games... I stayed off line and watched both Sharapova and Clijsters matches... but I felt stupid staying up so late for a game that had ended hours ago... then again I love watching live tennis; so this was the next best thing for me (watching without knowing the score)
Did you know that in the Maria-Ana tiebreaker (7-5) the first 9 points were mini-breaks and that 11 out of 12 points were breaks of serve? True Leftys... A hard day at the office for the server!

Nadal lost to Gonzo as I predicted! ... in straight sets too!
I had picked Blake to beat Nadal in FITD expecting that he would loose a close match, but once I saw how Gonzo beat Blake, I was sure that Nadal would loose cleanly against Gonzalez
I predict
Federer will beat Gonzalez in 4 in the final
Serena will beat Sharapova or Clijsters in 3 in their final
I cannot decide on the Maria-Kim match...

it was annoying, but now it is stupid. they show more tape-delayed matches than live ones. some days that all they show! they don't start when the matches start, so they start showing the matches late. that goes on through the night of showing matches that are over when there is live tennis to be shown. you don't have to start on time, but show the live matches when they are on, then show the tape-delayed matches the next day during the tape-delayed slot. they really annoyed me with the Sharapova-Garbin match. instead of showing Ana-Zvonareva live, they show Sharapova-Garbin tape-delayed, only to show it again the next day.

These results have pretty much gifted Federer the title. I am still very happy to see Haas in the semis again. This is the 3rd time for him (1999, 2002). Gonzalez straight-setting Nadal is a real surprise. The Australian Open will once again see a first-time Slam finalist.

I'm surprised that Nadal lost to Gonzalez, but Gonzalez is extremely talented, and his new 'one-two punch' (slice backhand with that blazing forehand) really makes it difficult for opponents to get into a rhythm. I expect him to beat Haas in the semis. It's great seeing Haas back where he belonged....

Gonzo's forehand was Gonzo!
He was smacking them so hard....

That's exactly how I feel about it... why show tape delayed matches when there is live tennis going on?

I don't know why you were all surprised that Nadal lost to Gonzalez. Did you not see him play against Blake?

Gonzalez was perfect against Nadal. He made few unforced errors and absolutely demolished Nadal. There was nothing Nadal could do at all.
