2007 Hall of Fame Induction Ballot Created

Here's the news:

http://www.atptennis.com/en/newsandscores/news/2006/hall_sampras.asp

Sampras and Sanchez-Vicaro are on it, and surely they'll win the nomination.
J-man

I would think that Sampras would get the nomination no problem
Tennis fan

Sanchez-Vicario also deserves to be in it. She won 14 grand slams (4 singles) and was no1 simultaneously in both singles and doubles.

Of course if I list Sampras accomplishments I will need 2 pages!! Cool Shocked

Hands down they;re in. Boring...
PSALT

they will both get in easily. happy to see Dr.Johnson in there too.

Sanchez-Vicario is another great, great player that doesn't get her due or is even mentioned anymore. She got more out of her natural ability than just about any woman I can think of. She won 5 majors, was briefly #1, and managed to give Graf fits at times. That's why when I look at the overrated women's game today, I think of players like Sanchez-Vicario who overachieved to not only win a major but 5 of them!
Players like Clijsters have so much more talent than her, and she has 1. Go figure. And Venus has 5, and I'm saying it now-she ain't winning another one, and look at her physical talents.
Goes to show tennis, like most sports, is mostly about what's above your shoulders than what's below it. Plus, you need heart and nobody in the last quarter century in the women's game had more desire, fight to the last pt. skills than Vicario. She was the Nadal of the women's game, but obviously not as impressive from a physical stature pt. of view.

The only other recent women players I can think of that showed as much fighting qualities as Vicario are Seles and Capriati, in the early 90's.

I thought she only had 4 majors?
PSALT

yes, she won 4. 3 RG's and 1 USO.

It is a shame she 'only' won 29 singles titles and 4 slams. She was a finalist so many more times and should have won some more. She still had a fantastic career though.
