I would like to do something with it, but I think articles should either come after tournaments maybe? I'm not sure really yet, but I'd be glad to stir something up.
In terms of where it would be, would we make a thread in this part, or would percy make another thread thing or what?

Ok, sorry missed this. Please everyone read my post in the Henin-Hardenne topic, I will also re-post it here.

It is just I got thinking, in fact I PM'ed Percy about it a few days back, after I did an interview with Vanessa how easily I could write an article type piece on certain goings on within the tour. There are problems with saying: ok every tournament. Ok every season. They get slightly tedious. I still really enjoy reading PSALT's previews but now they are no longer such a novelty, they are now the norm. We do not have to put a scale or limit on EVERYTHING, some things can just be spontaneous.
Here is how I see it:
we could divide a magazine into parts so that we do have, as you say, certain pieces about various things; off-court section, equipment etc!
it could be run monthly and have an editor whom all the articles/ideas/bits and pieces get sent to via PM.
the editor then SELECTS the parts that are suitable, relevant and best
the editor could pass these on, or do it themselves, to a team/individual of designers (x.doublea/leftys are ideal for this designer role (see wallpaper website) ) and they put the magazine together and then release it!
the editor can also write "editorials" on absolutely ANYTHING and PERHAPS contribute slightly to the magazine
This is still very sketchy but more detailed and substantial than any other idea we so far have! I would quite like to be the editor if something like this came to pass and it is absolutey IMPERATIVE I think that this would run on a monthly basis, or something like that, meaning it would never lose its novelty!
Let me know what you guys think...

I like it. I think it should be done more than once a month however. That would give only 2-3 magazines a season.

I think once every 15-17 days of the season would work well. A month is almost 4/5's of the season.
I do think you should be the editor, you fit that well, and xdoublea and leftys would make good designers. I'd be glad to send in articles and such.

Oh I see, I did not quite grasp that bit right. For sure the time limit needs a bit of work, but like I said it is completely imperative that is is not too regular! I think 3 editions a season wouldn't be a terrible thing at all...it would make it really worthwhile and sought after!

Great idea N_E_A. I think this will be the perfect thing to get FTL going again. It seems people have almost lost interest. I personally think every two weeks or so (real weeks) would be sufficient.

I completely agree, so when will the first one be, and I for one vote NEA to be the editor.

I will be the editor then unless anybody else wishes specifically to be so. But it will be all of you who make the magazine; everyone try and contribute SOMETHING, ANYTHING at all....I will make a list of ideas when we finalise details...but don't be afraid to send ideas in that might seem a bit random. Articles are great but other things are more than welcome please, the more the merrier!
Just in advance, if something is not really suitable to send in a PM, which I presume lots of things won't...everyone please note my email address:

Can we each be "head" of like one section of the magazine? Like somebody could do stroke analysis, one could do racquet talk, one could preview tournaments and such, one could give a rankings analysis and talk about shockers in rankings, big movers up and how they got there and etc.

I don't think that's the point of this. Since it will be every two human weeks or so (so every 14 FTL day), there is no point in ranking changes or tournaments previews, unless it is about an upcoming grand slam event.

I was meaning grand slams. Like how Tennis Magazine has one of those special preview for the AO/FO/Wimby/USO editions.

The title page won't be a problem at all... just take a look at the real magazines, and you'll see how simple they actually are in design.

True, it is basically a border around a picture and page numbers for references to articles. I wonder what we should do for the content.

We can do that, or just find out what computer players will be mentioned in that issue and ask Percy for look alikes then. Sheila-Anne is almost a sure thing though.

I think I will pick who the computer players are. May I suggest that every member pick an obscure tennis player that is not very famous, so that everyone is seen more as themselves rather than "Roddick" for example.

It will be more to spark controversy, add in equipment things, and just get everyone excited again.
More of an editorial standpoint, than reporting like you and PSALT do.

That is the point dav, write what you like and see if it gets in. There is no: it has to be this, it must be this and it has to be this. Original = better in some cases. Just try it. I am sure percy and the council will also help in discussing what material is most suitable, if I am not elected onto the council this Friday then I can always email some questionable material to percy/a member of the council for them to aid the decisions. It will be a whole forum contribution, so don't be afraid to send in anything.

I think every 2 weeks (approx) of FTL was suggested. We could compile a list but I don't think that is necessary as of yet, after Christmas I will make a topic and we will get down to the business end. I will probably post some ideas and maybe a list of "definites" that we would definitely want in the magazine, people can claim those and have a go. It is entirely up to you though what you send, you can send in exclusive interview pieces etc, basically anything you would find in a tennis magazine. Always remember you are not writing from the P-O-V of leftys_rock UNLESS you are purposelly writing a blog or article from the players P-O-V! It is a magazine made up of freelance journalists, if you like.

First off, NEA, when will this happen? It would be nice to have one for the USO, but that might not happen.
Second, I think it would be nice to have one person do predictions in the issues. These mag. issues would likely happen near big events and it would be nice to get people's views. I always do predictions, and it is getting a little tedious. Some fresh insights would be nice.

Oh God! I am swamped right now, this might be a struggle. If anyone else is happy to share the burden then please say so, I still think I can mantain being editor...but not sure about "organising" the whole thing, percy, PSALT or everybody could just collectively organise this magazine. I can probably manage reviewing the articles and selecting the material, but beyond that I am unsure. I may also have to withdraw my blogging offer; I am well and truly swamped right now! So much to do...!
