After the USO players are now trying to make serious pushes towards the YEC. The Ljubicic International is one of the few major hardcourt events to be played still. NEA is the defending champion, having soundly beaten Yodavitch last year. With his draw, and his record against Yodavitch lately, it will be a tall task for him to repeat. Yodavitch is the top seed and the comfortable favorite; NEA is seeded 2nd, Jenna 3rd, and Dave 4th. Other notable names include, Mollusk, J-man, Stroganoff, and Agassi. Leftys was schedule to play here, but pulled out.
Match to Watch
J-man-Aztec
J-man finally got a good win at the USO, beating Leftys before falling to Child. He needs to get something going for him to ever get his ranking back up. He plays Aztec to start; it’s a tough match for anyone. Aztec has some deep, penetrating strokes and will take advantage of rallies if J-man isn’t in his ever-elusive zone. The winner faces hot-NEA.
I have an interview with Mollusk. Mollusk apparently look up to JoJo, they are both as boring as hell in their interviews. I also talked briefly to Leftys.
Mollusk
Q. You lost a heartbreaking match to PSALT. How will you rebound from that?
Mollusk:
Yes, was very tough. With a...match point it is tough losing. I try but sometimes just not lucky. Tough to lose so close.
Q. You also lost to Doublea last week. Was that because of that USO match perhaps?
Mollusk:
Oh uh....I don't know. I think he played good match and I just am not doing my best tennis out there. I don't think U.S. Open match made me lose.
Q. Sheila is your first round opponent. What do you think of her?
Mollusk:
Sheila is...well very beautiful . But she can play good tennis and it will be tough too. I a...think I can win but will be tough.
Leftys on why she pulled out of Ljubicic
I wanted to clear my mind a little from the bad results I have been having, and I will come back on carpet in Russia tomorrow.
When I asked her what about that fans that will miss her, she replied coldly……. ‘screw ‘em’
