A case could be made for either JHH or Mauresmo. JHH had an incredibly consistant year, as reflected in the rankings. Getting to all the major finals in the sport really says a lot about her year. Playing 13 events and having an 88% W/L ratio. Mauresmo's year was obviously reflected in her grand slam wins. An incredibly year for her as well. People remember grand slam winners, and she won the most of them this year. Now, Sharapova can't really rival JHH and Mauresmo for best year, but she had a great year for her standard and was once again very consistant and won 5 titles, which 4 of them were Tier I and above.

Mauresmo. Henin is the close second, Sharapova is not close to either. Mauresmo won two Slams, and many other titles. She was also No.1 for the majority of the year.

I know your a fan Stevos, but honestly, Henin and Mauresmo achieved more this year than she did. Not that Maria had a bad year, but they just had better years.

Well, Sharapova basically had a US Open and three semifinals. How can that beat two wins or one win and three finals?

Do you agree? honestly, Sharapova had a good year, but it is nothing compared to Henin's and Mauresmo's.

Ditto! I could not have said it better. So I voted for Mauresmo becuase she won 2 GS. I assume you voted for JHH.

I could go with ethier JHH or Mauresmo. Mauresmo did win 2 slams where she won both against JHH and won more titles. But JHH got to the finals of every slam and won YEC. But when you look at it Mauresmo was at #1 for more weeks and won more GS, with her incridble break through at AO. So I voted Momo

JHH won 6 titles to Mauresmo's 4. But granted, 2 of Mauresmo's titles were GS.

Okay, I agree Sharapova did not have the BEST year, but she is not light years away! I mean, she won the USO beating #1 and #2 seeds, won two more indoors after that, made semis of AO, Wimby and YEC, and won Indian Wells and San Diego. Mauresmo and Justine were somewhat distant during the non-GS times, like after Wimbledon, and before the YEC. Sharapova dominated then.

However I think grand slams are worth more, and that Mauresmo definitely had the better year. Her Wimbledon win was very impressive, her first grand slams year, and two wins over 1 always trumps, no matter how many finals you get to. imo at least.
