The U.S. Open will be the first Grand Slam tennis event to use instant replay to review disputed calls.

Do you think it will change the outcome a lot? Cool

I think I'm old fashion because I don't like the crowds getting involved in these disputes. I think it was Patrick McEnroe who said, the crowds getting involved is good for tennis! I disagree. What the heck do they know. They can't see the lines from where they're sitting. Wink

There was a con about it today. THE STUPID HAWKEYE SCREEN COULDN'T BE SEEN FROM MY ANGLE IN THE STADIUM!!! Evil or Very Mad So when Vaidisova made a challenge today, i'm like "Where's the call?"

Instant replay is great for tennis. Tennis is way too old fashioned and that's why (at least in this country) it's been left in the dark by other sports that frankly have a much better current product. I mean I love this sport but tennis is one wacky sport that just refuses to let go of the past and improve itself. Tennis should keep coming up with interesting and helpful ways to improve the game, as long as it doesn't sell it's soul too much. Yah, the system will be abused a bit but I really feel that instant replay will be pretty cut and dry in tennis. Not like in football, where it takes an eternity to use and frankly the refs still blow the call half the time.
I'm excited to see instant replay at the 1st major but I also hope the outcome is decided on the court by the players and it doesn't come into use that often.

I like the instant replay idea, but I don't like the rules that give players limited challenges. I think if a player has any type of dispute, they should be allowed to use the technology. Also, it should be used on all courts, not just the show courts because it would confuse the players who have to play on both types of court.

I also think on the show courts, they should have a way of showing the hawk-eye. Most places have a big screen, like the US Open Series tournaments. But I wouldn't like to see a big screen on Centre Court or at Queens Club. In those cases they would need to find another way of showing hawk-eye, like smaller screens that aren't as noticeble and don't ruin the image of the court.
