Jbors, Day 40, Season 2
The past week I had off. After my tough loss a break would do me well. I headed over to Norway after a week of rest to prepare for my next tournament. The draws were already out, and I learned that I had to play Beta, again. I still feel very optimistic about winning this match, because I was so close last time.
I decided this week to really work on my serves and my volleys to get prepared for my match. Last time against Beta I was hitting good serves, but still not good enough. Once I get my serves down I want to be able to hit some excellent touch volleys too. I also worked on my movement. It is really something that has been holding me back this year and I really need to start improving it.
Looking at the draw I realize that if I were to win my first match, my next one would also be very winnable. This really got me pumped. This could be the time for it to happen. Jbors could finally win a match, maybe even two.
As I was leaving the practice courts I noticed leftys_rocks finishing up her practice. She walked off the court and I decided to take the initiative.
“Hey leftys, what’s going on?”
“Oh hey Jbors! Nothing much really, just finished getting ready for the tournament. What are you up to?”
“Yeah, I just finished practicing also. How do you think you are going to do this week?”
“I hope to do pretty well. I think I have a pretty favorable draw. Maybe I can win this one. What about you?”
“Who knows? I would like to win a match maybe.”
“Oh…sorry. I forgot you still hadn’t won all year.”
“Yeah it’s ok. So, I was wondering if you maybe weren’t doing anything….umm…tonight…maybe you would…ugh…like to…”
“Like to what?”
“Ya know. Have…..dinner with…..me?”
“As long as you promise not to poison me to get an edge in the tournament.”
“I give you my word.”
“Then it’s a date.”
“I guess I will pick you up around, let’s say, seven?”
“Sure. I’ll see you then!”
A sense of satisfaction swept through my body. It was probably the first time I had had this feeling all season. As leftys walked away I felt that even without the tournament I had already won this week.
*note* I did ask leftys if I could put this stuff in the blog so don't think that I was just writing about people without their consent.
