Some good matches today. Federer and Gasquet really had to fight out there.

Two-time defending champion Rafael Nadal will put his Open Era record 62-match clay-court winning streak on the line against Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela in second round action at ATP Masters Series Monte-Carlo on Wednesday.

After squandering five match points in a dramatic 26-point, second-set tie-break, Frenchman Richard Gasquet recovered from within two points of defeat to beat Fernando Verdasco 7-5, 6-7(12) 7-6(3) in two hours and 20 minutes on Tuesday.

ATP World No. 1 Roger Federer had to work hard in his 2007 clay court debut against Italian qualifier Andreas Seppi, winning 7-6(4), 7-6(6). He next plays Korean Hyung-Taik Lee.

Watched the Gasquet match....shakey start to the clay....the real battle with him is between the ears.

What was up with the comments I heard the commentators were saying about Federer's forehand? I didn't see the match...was Federer's forehand breaking down?....its usually his go-to shot....I thought his backhand was iffy on clay.

Court Central is breathtaking with the Mediterranean Sea framing one side and the foothills of Monte Carlo on the other...what a place to play

I concur. Monte Carlo's center court is one of my favorite tennis courts I have ever seen Smile

Federer advanced, 6-4 6-3 over Lee. I have yet to be impressed with Federer so far, he has been shaky at times.

Nadal, on the other hand, has been dominate. He won 21 straight points against Vliegen in a 6-1 6-3 routing.

Well, I guess he spread that out between two sets, but that is still amazing. Shocked

I think Federer still a bit shaken at the moment.

I think Nadal's certainly through, as good Berdych is. I think, if Ferrero plays really really well, he might have a chance to sneak by Federer. However, anything less will result in a Federer victory.

I don't see Berdych troubling Nadal at all. Every match of his (Berdych) there have been times in the match where he seems disinterested. He could still get by though against the likes of Soderling though. Having patches like that won't be good enough against Nadal, however.

Federer should win. Ferrero's days of big upsets are over. I would be extremely suprised it Ferrero won, even with Federer's shaky form in some of his matches this event.

Nadal-Federer final. Federer beat Ferrero 6-3 6-4, while Nadal handed Berdych a bagel, winning 6-0 7-5.

Oops, I thought the final started at a little later time than it actually did start. Embarassed I don't see why Nadal won't repeat what he did last year.
