i think a good way to cut back on juries is for the players to choose their tournments more carefully

Yeah, I agree with that. I think it was Federer himself saying the exact same thing, that players should plan their calendar more carefully.

The tours and players have to work together better on this one. There should be a longer off-season. Tennis shouldn't really be played in Nov. and Dec. But the players have to be responsible and schedule more carefully. Last year, I blamed the suits for all the injuries at the end of year. This year, the players were at least half to blame. They pull out at the last minute and then the next wk. they're playing lucrative exhibitions. So everyone is partially to blame.
I'd also love if they put some sort of limits on the racquet technology, which is really causing all the injuries. They're just so hard on the body. But that's never going to happen. Maybe they could still produce the same racquets for the general public put have some limits for the pros. I think they did something similar in golf (when Tiger was complaining about how far guys were hitting the ball off the tee). But I know this is a major long shot.
Also, would love to see better scheduling of the big events. The French Open and Wimbledon should have 2 more wks. in between and there are 2 pairs, almost 3 actually of TMS's in back to back weeks. It's no wonder that you see some guys make the semis or final of the first and then lose in the 1st rd or don't show up in the second. It's just too little time to recover.

I know it's been said before, but injuries are just KILLING tennis right now. I also know this happens just about every year at the AO (in fact it has only been in the past 5 yrs. where all the players have decided to come if they're healthy, a lot of players just didn't show in the past up bec. of the strange timing) but this is getting freakin' ridiculous.
Out-Safin, Nadal, Agassi, probably more. Maybe Clijsters.
Roddick said it better than I or anyone else on the boards probably could. The players desperately need to form a union, get organized, and get a more sane schedule. Can you think of any other sport around today that has a major event (the 4th biggest) and it's sabotaged because of lousy timing, not letting the players properly recover, and most go there not 100% or get hurt in the process? This has been a horrible start to the '06 season and the message it is sending to the players, fans, and the upcoming season is a very poor one! Maybe the AO will turn out to be okay, but I'm one tennis fan that's already lost a decent amount of interest in this Slam 'cause the "suits" are just really ruining this sport. They're is no reason on Earth why you kick off a season with a major competition just 2 wks. into the season. If it wasn't so stupid, it would be hilarious! They better get their acts together soon or people will just turn their attention to other things (that's why nobody cares about tennis in the US).

Roddick will still have his hands full if he makes the semifinals; if the matches go according to seed, he will face either Hewitt or Nalbandian, both which have games that match up well against Roddick.

The first seed gets the top spot on the draw, and the second seed gets the bottom spot on the draw. The third and forth seeds (in this case, Hewitt and Nalbandian) can end up on either side of the draw. So, in the semifinals (if all matches go accordint to seed) the both the first seed and the second seed would meet either the third or forth seed. Basically it can be 1 vs. 3 & 2 vs. 4 or 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3.

Let's hope Nalbandian gets drawn on the top half and Hewitt to the bottom half. Nalbandian is a nemesis for Federer and Hewitt is a nemesis for Roddick. That would make things interesting, because then, both semifinal matches might be entertaining. If it is the other way around, it would be a blow-out for Federer against Hewitt.

Stomach viruses shouldn't take too long to heal. He probably just ate something.... The Australian Open surely can't lose him. Something surely has to be done.

I just asking me:

why says Clijsters that the time between the old en the new season is too short, but at the beginning of the new season she plays a exhibition tournament?

I don't understand that.

I agree that there's little time between the seasons, but take your time! Justine HH for example started a week later than her.

I Hope she will be fine for the Aussie Open (i hope for another Belgium-final Laughing ) , but i'm afraid Confused.
In the press here in Belgium, she declared that she isn't very optimistic.
