leftys, here's some info from Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennis#History

You should also do some research on the influence of other sports on tennis (Ex. golf), as well as the original game (Real Tennis). To add a little spice, you can also compare it to other racquet sports.

As you can see, there strictly using Grand Slam winners with over two wins. It is a bit funny though. Laughing

sad, isn't it? Even with two Slams Sharapova has a long way to go to be as great as the likes of Conchita Martinez and a few others who weren't on the list. She has yet to prove that she can be a top player for a long time, something that is in some ways better than winning Slams.

Ok, I have made my statement on the page:

History of Tennis: "Greatest" Tennis Players

I would like to enquire, how can the article consider anyone with more than one Grand Slam title "one of the greatest". Mary Pierce? One of the greats along side Martina Navratilova? Doesn't make any sense to me. This list should be consisted of players with remarkable Slam achievements (like, at least 3-4 titles) and consisted of champions who were great advocates to the games. How can the "greatest tennis players" be considered someone who won more than two slams? Doublea 04:25, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

That's the problem w/ Wikipedia. People can change the stuff on there, so it's not a "reliable" source. But that was amusing. Laughing

No, I just think they weren't thinking there. I love Wikipedia... I'm part of the "OperaProject there"... just, sometimes, you've got to question these things. There is a group of "Wikipedians" who do believe that you should have to register in order to participate. In this case, I think it was logical, just not too logical, if you know what I mean.

We are currently not allowed to use it for research projects. It's nice for a quick lookup, but it's because of how people can change info on there. It might be inconsistant if we cite it.

Well, about 95% of the stuff is confirmed correct. Wikipedia can sometimes make Britanica look like a joke. They have like a full 15 pages on Andre... Britanica has around three-quarters of a page on him...and it is out of date. You can always use some of the links at the bottom of the Wikipedia articles as website research sources.
