The last week of the WTA tour has two tier 3 events, as the long-running ADVANTA Championships in Philadelphia ended last year.

At the Gaz de France Stars in Hasselt, Nadia Petrova is the top seed and has made the finals of her last 3 tournaments. She plays former doubles partner Meghann Shaughnessy. Nicole Vaidisova and Anna-Lena Groenefeld could have an exciting QF match, with the winner likely toplay Petrova. Both Vaidisova and Groenefeld have lost to Petrova twice this indoor season. Groenefeld has a tricky opener against Samantha Stosur. The bottom half is packed with top players. Patty Schnyder could play Vera Zvonareva in the 2nd round, then Ana Ivanovic or Michaella Krajicek in the QF. There is a possible re-match of last year's final between Kim Clijsters and Francesca Schiavone in the QF. This is Clijsters' home event, and she won it last year. She is making her comeback from a wrist injury here. I expect a Petrova v Clijsters final, with Petrova winning.

At the Bell Chellenge, Amy Fraizer has not returned to defend her title. Jelena Jankovic and Marion Bartoli are the top seeds, but last year's finalist Sofia Arvidsson, Severine Bremond and Jamea Jackson could make deep runs. Chanda Rubin is also in the draw, against 2004 champion Martina Sucha. There are 4 Canadians in the draw aswell.

I think all players who are in YEC except Kim aren't playing this week.

Sad, but there has been not one drop of media coverage for Quebec City in Toronto....

I can see Ana Ivonavic winning in Hasselt. Nadia Petrova pulling is a smart move. She's been playing hard and needs to take a rest for YEC. I also expect Jelena Jankovic to win. She has been playing good tennis. Showing that at the USopen.

So many players pulled out in Hasselt, they had to completely re-make the draw! So far Karolina Sprem and 6th seed Vera Zvonareva have gone through. Joining them today are Elini Danilidou, Kirsten Flipkens, Sandra Kloesel and Agnieszka Radwanska.

In Quebec City, Laura Granville, Martina Sucha and Aleksandra Wozniak went though, aswell as seeds Shenay Perry and Olga Poutchkova.

I know, and Dubois is out! Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Our only canadian hope is Wozzy, and apparently she is not fan worthy, because from a reliable source she is stuck up and plays only for stardom and not for love of the game, which is really too bad.

But still, shes canadian!

Shenay Perry is the first Quarter-finalist in Quebec City. She beat Abigail Spears 6-1 7-5.

Shenay is playing well. She's a very good player. I saw her play at Wimbledon TV. She has a good serve strong strokes. A very good player. I think she is a very strong contender for the title

She's so inconsistent though, but if she has a few more solid matches she should win, I agree. But its basically Jankovics.

btw, Wozniak made the quarters over Harkleroad! Very Happy
