I picked Safin. It's very very risky. The first will tell it all. Safin is better in first round matches. He's known to blow out in the next.

Grosjean Advances on Tough Day for Frenchmen

Sixth seed Sebastien Grosjean was the only winner among four Frenchmen in action on the opening day of the Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon Monday. In a tough day for native players the lone French victory was by default - Grosjean took out countryman Paul-Henri Mathieu 7-6(3), 6-3 to reach the second round.

Earlier, French wild card Thierry Ascione fell to fifth seed Robin Soderling 6-3, 6-1 and Frenchman Nicolas Mahut suffered a 7-6(5), 6-3 loss to German Florian Mayer.

Mayer, who was runner-up to Nikolay Davydenko in Sopot this year, hit 12 aces for his 26th victory of the season.

Eighth seed Nicolas Almagro rallied from a set down to defeat Oliver Marach 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 to claim his first win of the indoor season.

Well, besides Agassi, I've honestly have never seen a backhand as solid as Safin's. I'm sorry, but I think Safin's backhand is stronger than Gasquet's one-hander. However, it's really heads or tails in terms of who wins their match....

obviously, they are not the best players mentally, but even though, it should be an intersting match

Go Gasquet!!!

I agree that Safin has the better backhand, and atleast in my opinion, when on has the best backhand is tennis (even over Agassi's).

Agassi's backhand is a bit steadier and a bit flatter than Safin's. Safin's backhand can unleash more dramatic winners than Agassi's (sometimes), but Agassi's is way more consistant. Agassi really found the balance between aggression and conservatism....

when Safin is at his best (05 AO), his aggressive play is unparalled. his backhand is so good, Agassi's is steadier, but I don't think his backhand is quite as good as Safin's when Safin is playing his best.

I think Agassi's is more effective on a consitant basis, though. He can return better with it, he doesn't require as much time to set up, he can hit better on the rise with it... Safin's is better when he has time to load up, but taking away time is the beauty of Agassi's game.
