The draw doesn't look remarkably interesting. Potential Sharapova Ivanovic QF which could be exciting, provided both bring good tennis. But a relatively weak draw.

This is a good chance for lower ranked players to raise up. If Ivanovic makes it to the QF she will be stopped in her tracks by Sharapova. Sharapova should when this title (not to easily though)

I wish Sharapova didnt play here, I want her to rest before the YEC. She doesnt really need the points or anything. Oh well, just win it Masha. Wink

I have a feeling it might be like JP Morgan earlier this year, but frankly, she shouldn't be tired after only 2 weeks.

I don't expect Sharapova to win this one. She will not put the effort. I think she should not have entered. However, since she committed early, I commend her for not falling into the WTA withdrawal syndrome of 2006.

Stosur is a very hard person to beat, i'll be surprised if Kirilenko can get past her.

Oh I see Lindsay Davenport pulled out of this event. That's a shame, I really hope she plays Quebec City next week, although there wouldn't be much point. She needs a good start to next year.

Shahar Peer and Samantha Stosur are the only players through so far.
