Indonesia pulled out BTW. Indonesia doesn't reconize Isreal as a nation so the team isn't allowed to travel to Isreal.

TTC is showing Italy-Spain live, Belgium-USA tape delayed.

For Italy-Spain I like Italy. Schiavone is a hot right now and should easily win both her singles. Penneta should get atleast one win to close it out, 4-1.

Belgium-USA, what is there to say? We have neither Lindsay nor Venus. 4-1 for Belgium, Jackson will upset Clijsters.

Japan-Austria, Sugiyama is confident and will destroy her opponents. 3-2 for Japan, they will enter the World Group.

France-Czech Rupublic, Mauresmo is on cloud 9 and will win her matches. Both Vaidisova and Safarova will scrounge up 2 wins. France 3-2.

China-Germany, what a chance for China! They have some great players and an even better doubles team. 5-0 for China.

Russia-Croatia, a rather weak Russia team. Enough though, they will win 4-1.

Canada-Argentina, on hard courts I smell an upset. Canada 3-2.

Slovakia-Thailand, never even heard of a player on the Thai team. 4-1 for Slovakia.

Switzerland-Australia, where are Schynder and Hingis? WIthout them 5-0 for Australia.

The US team is just a sitting duck for Belgium. I wish Linds and Venus could have played. They want to save themselves for the USO Series and the USO though.

Yes, I'm sorry, but it will be 4-1 Belgium at worst....

I doubt JHH will play Fed Cup this week. She has played 5 of the last 6 weeks and is always careful about the amount of tournaments she plays in case her virus resurfaces. That would leave a low-on-confidence Clijsters as Belgium's only player. The USA would need another inspired performance. Jackson and Craybas should be up to it.

so are you picking the USA to win? If we get to the final I would think that Venus, and possibly Davenport, depending on her back would play. The title would be as good as the USA's.

I hope USA will win so Davenport could play. If Jackson and Craybas did lead USA to the final, it would be scandalous if Venus or Lindsay didn't play.

yes, if both Venus and Lindsay are healthy yet don't play they would come under a lot of heat from US tennis fans and people around the world. the winner of this tie will win Fed Cup.

on a side note what do you guys think of China's chances to goet to the World Group? if they get in it would solidify their position as a rising power in the womens game.

It would be a huge moment if USA beat Belgium. They have a good chance. I think it is a poor effort that Venus isn't playing. She is the only top player that is well right now.

China have a good chance to get their, they make a good team. I think Zheng is the best of them right now.

I just don't like the way their players are over-trained from a young age.

I think they are awful aswell. It is not how they should be bringing up players. They even take their prize money.

Welcome to communism...well, the government basically payed for their player's education and training in entirity, so I don't think anything's going to be done.

Henin-Hardenne has pulled out of Fed Cup. The chances just got A LOT brighter for the US.

Yes, definitely, but I think Clijsters is still a bundle to handle.

We don't necessarily have to beat Clijsters. Just have Jackson and Craybas beat the other person and win the doubles. Cool

That's true...if US does win, it'll probably be unfortunately the weakest team ever to make the final....
