A straight forward day, all the favorites won. Mauresmo went through 6-3 6-2 over Sun Tiantian. She will meet Lindsay Davenport in the quarters. Davenport took down Jie Zheng 6-2 7-6. Nadia Petrova also went through, beating Daniilidou 6-1 6-2. Jelena Jankovic will join them, beating Marion Bartoli 6-3 6-2. Then Li Na beat Vesnina 3-6 6-1 6-1.

That's to bad. But it's good for Mauresmo to get a win over her. Espically a player with the game like Davenport

Yes, Mauresmo has problems against players like Davenport, so it's a good win for her. Too bad Davenport lost, though.

That is a very surprising result right there. Kuznetsova has nopt been having the best results of late. And Mauresmo has and then she get's killed 4 and 0.

Kuznetsova is on fire now. Two years ago, she won the US Open, Bali and had match points in the final of this event against Serena Williams and lost. Since then, the expectations got to her. This year she has been a top 5 player throughout.

With Kuznetsova, it has never been a question of talent, but whether she can piece it all together. I guess she did that here, but I'm really surprised Mauresmo didn't give a better fight.
